About Al

A  versatile artist,  creating works in watercolors, acrylics,   oils,  pastels, and sculpture.

Al began painting in 1996 after an extensive career (25 years) as a Homicide Investigator.  The need to grow personally and escape the stress of everyday life led him to fine art.  A realist painter, bringing the viewer closer to the natural beauty of our world, proving that life is not hinged upon negativity, but on love and beauty.

Al has studied with renowned two and three-dimensional artists, i.e., Charles Ellis, Luverne Lightfoot, Ginni Annis, Yvonne Louthan, Dale Laitnen, and many others. Gleaning from them what was needed and now pursues his own charted course.

He enjoys painting “en plein air” Nevada and California landscapes.  One of his favorite locations is on the Truckee River, of which he has completed a series of fifty paintings.

His paintings are rendered in oil, watercolor, pastel, & acrylic; adorning the homes of many admirers throughout western and southern states.  Several of his paintings were selected to become part of the Renown Hospital Permanent Art Collection.  He has been an active member of the Artists Co-op Gallery of Reno for over twenty years.

Community Involvement:  Veterans Resource Center, Very Special Arts of Nevada, Nevada Rock Art Foundation, Scenic Nevada Foundation, Soroptimist International of Nevada, and the North Nevada SPCA
