About Cathy
Cathy spent her formative years in the Missouri River Valley of South Dakota. Her appreciation of the outdoors was nurtured by the activities of hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking the expansive prairie. Recording her outdoor surroundings through art and photography became a frequent activity. Cathy graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in journalism with a photography sequence and a minor in graphic design. She has since been employed in the newspaper and technology business. Cathy has studied oil painting with Darrel McPherson, owner of Art Traditions Gallery in Escondido, California and attended a plein air workshop in the Owens Valley of California with painter Frank Serrano. Oil painting classes with Reno artists, Mike Callahan and David McCamant. A recent transplant to Nevada, Cathy is excited to explore the diverse area for recreation and to discover subjects of interest for her photography and painting.
